Connecting to remote hardware boards using the IOPT-Tools remote debugger tool

The http://gres.uninova.pt/IOPT-Tools server is connected to several embedded boards that are running code generated automatically from IOPT-net models.

At this moment there are three embedded hardware boards that can be acessed using the Remote Debugger tool:

• arduino1 - Arduino Mega board running model "PN24_ParkSensors"
• arduino2 - Arduino Mega board running model "PN24_Park"
• raspi - Raspberry PI 3b board running model "INDIN07_park1in1out"

Using the Remote Debugger tool it is possible to connect to these boards and interact with the system, monitor the system state, force the value of input signals and perform remote debugging operations as pause/run, step-by-step execution, define breakpoints and inspect signal waveforms.

The GPIO (Input/Output) pins from boards arduino1(PN24_ParkSensoers) and arduino2(PN24_Park) are connected to each other, meaning that changes produced in one model will affect the state of the other model.

To access the hardware boards it is necessary to follow these steps:

• Login into the IOPT-Tools server with user "atpn2024" and password "atpn2024"

 
• Select the model corresponding the code running on the desired board:
  arduino1:"PN24_ParkSensors", arduino2:"PN24_Park" or raspi:"INDIN07_park1in1out"

 
• Open the Remote Debugger tool:

 
• Enter the hostname/IP-Address of the desired card:
  "gres.uninova.pt/embed/arduino1", "gres.uninova.pt/embed/arduino2" or "gres.uninova.pt/embed/raspi"
• Enter a password to connect to the hardware boards "1234"

 
• Start using the Remote Debugger

 

Notes:

• Please enter the exact hostname/url of the selected hardware board: "gres.uninova.pt/embed/arduino1", "gres.uninova.pt/embed/arduino2" or "gres.uninova.pt/embed/raspi"
• The Remote Debugger will only open the connection if the hardware board is running code corresponding to the selected model and version.
  Incorrect model-name/model-version will result in an error
• When connecting to hardware boards located on local networks (ex: 192.168.X.X) it is recommended to access the IOPT-Tools service
  using the https protocol: https://gres.uninova.pt/IOPT-Tools or otherwise an HTTP Cross-Origin Resource Sharing error may occur.
• To enable remote debugging on your local hardware boards, it is necessary to enable the HTTP_SERVER option before compiling the C code generated automatically. For Linux based boards, this is done by uncommenting the -DHTTP_SERVER flag in the Makefile. For Arduino boards, the HTTP_SERVER flag must be uncommented in the "net_types.h" file, but the Arduino IP address must also be defined in "net_server.h".
